Late flight arrivals are not uncommon in our modern-day flight schedules which used to be delayed because of weather and engine failure of aircrafts. These late flight arrivals are now so uncertain and made worse by security situations of post-September 2001 and the attendant safety measures evolving with each passing day. Flight arrivals basically follow the flight schedules of airlines by ensuring that touch down and disembarkation times are strictly adhered to; and that there are no faulty incidents with regards to a flight and its passengers. Flight arrivals encompass all these and even more because there are protocols which ought to be observed by pilots, security personnel at the airports, passengers with their luggage and what they need to do if on transit.
Back in the days, flight arrivals were really uneventful especially when air travel was not as sophisticated as it is in the millennial era. However, these days, we hear of unnecessarily delayed take-offs and consequently late arrivals of flights, hijackings and attempts, pilot errors and engine problems that forced emergency landings, etc. So instead of having smooth trips from boarding to landing, there are just some things that remain unforeseen and unavoidable. Such incidents have even scared many passengers off the tarmacs and skies of air travel and they will rather travel aboard luxury cruise ships not minding the time it will take for them to arrive at “the other side.” Well, ships do capsize too isn’t it? So now let’s face reality.
Because we have to travel by air to far places to attend occasions, keep appointments, meetings or representations for our bosses or offices, we ought to be good ambassadors or serious-minded people by keeping to time and ensuring punctuality. Even if we are on our normal schedules and are just taking vacations to some choice places of interest to us, we should be able to start out early enough to make the most of our time out. Early flight departures beget early flight arrivals and so also late take-offs. This has been the case in forty out of about fifty flights if conjured statistics are anything to go by. The earlier we all leave for our flight check-ins, the earlier we arrive at our destinations and the better for everyone too.
You have to also remember that the inevitable factor of forgetfulness lurks around, waiting for the right opportunity to strike and since it favors nobody and disappoints everybody, then the best way to tackle it is to prepare to leave early as far as early flight departure and arrival times depend on passengers. Therefore making sure that all passengers arrive early at the airport and check in before the deadline is the sole duty of each passenger wishing to travel. This is very important because in a situation where there had to be a delay in take-off due to tardiness on the side of passengers and afterwards, yet another unfortunate situation like a technical fault arises; then the passengers are partly to blame.
But blame games aside; there are also psychological factors that are direct results of an early or late flight arrival which is one aspect that is used to judge airlines’ performances. Early flight arrival helps us to maintain the right frame of mind and relax to face the business of that day or the next as the case may be. Furthermore, an early flight arrival will allow you to take your time and sort out personal or sundry tasks such as getting to know your environment and the people around who may be of help to you during your stay; prayers and supplication for a safe trip and so on. An opposite of this situation is to suddenly discover that your flight arrival time was three or more hours after schedule and probably those who are supposed to receive you have left in exasperation.
Surely, you will arrive tired and worn, stressed out and fatigued, and not even willing to attend whatever function took you there in the first place so as to collect your thoughts and allow your body some rest. Bearing all these in mind, it is not out of place to suggest that you should probably make an itinerary of all that you are most likely going to do while away on your trip and you will never regret you did.
